One of the old timer's tricks I use is to cut back my highway speed by 10% when I drop into the reservce world - usually dropping from 105 ish to 90 ish.
I have done 35 kms on reservie at the slower pace but the tank too 10.2 litres when I filled it so I had a bit left yet.
Keep the rubber side down
